Every pharmaceutical company wants to maximize speed to market for a new drug product. One way to enable this is with a platform approach for the package and delivery systems – in other words, to use the same vial containment system and/or syringe system for multiple drug products. To use this approach effectively, component and system performance data is needed. Through the Integrated Solutions platform, West is ideally positioned to provide this data.
Our Integrated Solutions program brings together West’s primary packaging, device, analytical, regulatory and contract manufacturing expertise in a single-source solution. West can help you Simplify the Journey™ at any stage of drug development. Learn more by visiting our Integrated Solutions Program page or contact a technical representative today for additional support and guidance.
In Part 2 of this series, we discussed the importance of choosing a packaging component supplier with a global focus. In this post, we’ll address the need for a supplier to understand and align with your drivers.
Where is the product catalog? What is my item number? These questions are often asked by customers new to working with West. The problem with such questions when it comes to choosing primary drug packaging is both complex and simple: people don’t choose the container closure system – rather, the choice is made by the properties of the drug product. In other words, the drug chooses the container.
West’s team members in Germany have spent the past month on charitable activities as part of the 2013 West without Borders fundraising initiative. Donations inspired volunteers to prepare lunch, snacks and desserts for their colleagues. Other activities included a raffle, various food sales and a flea market at plants in Eschweiler, Stolberg and the European Headquarters at Kiefernweg to help raise money for local children in need. This year’s motto was “Gemeinsam erfüllen wir Herzenswünsche” (Together we make dreams come true).
At West, we are committed to safeguarding the health and safety of the millions of patients who use our products every day. This commitment is anchored in our Core Value of Leadership in Quality, which ensures we never compromise on quality because we know that patients are counting on us.
It is an exciting time to be in the Cell and Gene therapy industry. The astounding growth and development we have witnessed in the cell & gene therapy industry over the last decade is bringing life-changing therapies to the patients who have been so anxiously awaiting them.

At the same time, as with any new drug class, challenges that may not have been considered during the drug development phase may suddenly show up and stand in the way of overcoming that last hurdle: Packaging and delivering your precious new molecule to the patient.
